I hope you enjoyed reading part one and two of Blind Date. Creating these characters and finding a way to tell their story was both fun and exhausting. I don’t know what possessed me to write about a man who is conflicted between what he wants versus what he was raised to want. This was supposed to be one short story and nothing more. That may have something to do with my decision to move forward with a horrible date.

I’ve never gone on a date with someone who didn’t want to date me because of my race. I’ve dealt with rejection because of it, but not in this exact way. I don’t know if I could do what Vanessa did. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t have sat through that.

I felt bad for Vanessa and I was slightly irritated with her. I kept telling her to leave and choose herself. I urged her not to put up with that type of dysfunction, but Vanessa was adamant she was going to do her own thing. What was I supposed to do?

After one of my writer friends pushed me to dig deeper and flesh out Kento, I realized I didn’t hate him as much as I initially did. I grew to like him and I felt (kinda) sorry for him. He seemed to have more to say to me than Vanessa. He could probably sense that I was judging him and he wanted to make sure I told his story right. Hopefully I did him justice.

There’s definitely a follow up toBlind Date called Second Date. It’s going through edits and revisions. I’m a perfectionist which can be a blessing and a curse. LOL! I hope to share it within a month or two.

I appreciate the positive feedback, likes, and follows. I wasn’t expecting anything. Knowing you’re reading my work and liking it, lets me know I’m on the right track. I appreciate the encouragement!

Final note: Don’t give up on your dreams. Hustle and don’t let anything (or anyone) distract you from your purpose. I hope you have a great week!
