Spring is FINALLY here! Well, it’s been here for over a month, but in my neck of the woods it’s been cold and rainy. Not until this past week has the sun been out and the temperature higher than 70 degrees. Pollen is everywhere so my car looks like an allergy on wheels. Between the pollen that sticks to bees and the wind-blown pollen, every person, place, and thing is covered in it. Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating, but my eyes, nose, and throat can’t tell the difference.
Anyway, I’m so happy the dreary weather has been replaced with sunshine and longer days (although I could really do without losing an hour of sleep). The energy I have and this sense of I-can-do-anything-because-I-got-it-like-that is on full force. I’m doing a little spring cleaning in my life as well as my home. I’m also catching up on some pleasure reading. It’s great!
I recently read One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus. It’s a teen fiction novel that makes the novels I grew up with (Wassup Sweet Valley High!) look like child’s play. That book was a delicious read. I’d been wanting to get into something suspenseful for awhile now, and I got my chance with this one. I’m not writing a review since I read it for pure indulgence, but I encourage you to check it out if you like fast-paced suspense. If you’re like me, you’ll devour it in a day or two.
I’m currently reading The Woman In the Window by A.J. Finn. I just started it and so far I’m getting Hitchcock vibes. This one has received a lot of positive reviews, so I hope it lives up to the hype. Besides reading books that are right up my alley, I finished revising Wedding Date. I’m not sure when I’ll post it since my friend/mentor/editor is relocating for her new job in a couple of weeks, but I hope to have it out soon. (My friend is on an amazing journey. Check out her blog here to see what God’s done for her.)
Right now I don’t have any specific plans except to live life in the moment, improve my craft, and just have fun. Where it’ll all lead, I don’t know, but I’m ready for the adventure.
How about you? Do you have any plans for the spring/summer months that may or may not revolve around writing? Or are you going with the flow?
